On primary night, Peggy Flanagan wore a small brass hog on her jacket. It is from Walter Mondale's 1984 presidential campaign, a gift from Ted Mondale. That campaign asked everyone who wanted to work on it one question. What is the difference between the eggs and the bacon on a breakfast plate? The chicken was involved. The hog was committed. Staff who answered “hog” got the pin. By the end of the campaign there were hundreds of them.

Hastings Progressives grows one conversation at a time. No staff, no office. Just neighbors who decided that showing up beats watching. We want to keep growing this community and creating opportunities for members to get involved and make a difference. The way that happens is simple: people talk about it. Here is what helps most right now.
